12. The choice is bullets or ballots, so it’s a no-brainer. The Department of Homeland Security has just used the authority that you delegated to the government when you voted, to purchase 450 million rounds of hollow-point ammunition that cannot be used in combat by law and therefore can only be used against US citizens. Your ballots authorized those bullets. There is a third option: not voting, not fighting, but simply withholding our consent. That has the result of delegitimizing a government that doesn’t represent us and demonstrating that it does not have the consent of the governed. It is a legal, nonviolent, effective option called noncompliance. Noncompliance can take other forms, such as not paying taxes or creating alternative systems, but these cannot delegitimize a government. Since governments derive “their just powers from the consent of the governed,” withholding our consent is the only way to nonviolently delegitimize a government that fails to represent us.

Property speculators are carving up our cities
Essentially, housing associations behave like private companies. This process is being accelerated as a result of the Housing and Planning Act which forces local authorities to sell off council housing. The proceeds are then used to encourage housing associations to extend Right to Buy which will reduce the amount of affordable housing stock even further.
Why ‘I, Daniel Blake’ is a modern tale of Dickensian cruelty in Tory Britain
The mismanagement of the UK economy by both the New Labour and Tory governments’ that followed the global crash of 2008 led to the poorest and weakest in society disproportionately picking up the pieces by way of savage cuts and austerity resulting from this incompetency.
UK participation in strikes on Syrian troops: ‘Syrian army location was known, they’ve been there for 2 years’
It will be now impossible to get to the truth since the coalition is doing its own investigation on what they call a “blunder”
Defend the ZAD – A Call For International Solidarity
For over 50 years, farmers and locals have resisted the building of a new airport for the French city of Nantes (which by the way already has one). Now in these rich fields, forests and wetlands, which multinational Vinci want to cover in concrete, an experiment in reinventing everyday life in struggle is blossoming. Radicals from around the world, […]
“It’s Never As It Seems, Bubba”
We are required to unquestioningly praise the U.S. Military for keeping us free, and protecting us from the villains du jour, in spite of the fact that it is really nothing more than a band of merciless mercenaries, hired by Wall Street to rob, rape, and pillage the resources of other countries. Amerika is in the business of war…nay, is dedicated, heart and soul, to the manufacture, sale, and use of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Tommy: A Missing “Thing” Who Should be a Missing “Person”
He didn’t ask for it, but Tommy has been a celebrity for much of his life. In the 80’s, he starred alongside Matthew Broderick in the film Project X. Later, he was a well-known circus performer in upstate New York. After he ceased to be of use to the entertainment industry, he was forced to live in a cage on […]

Maastricht and All That
If a country or region has no power to devalue, and if it is not the beneficiary of a system of fiscal equalisation, then there is nothing to stop it suffering a process of cumulative and terminal decline leading, in the end, to emigration as the only alternative to poverty or starvation.
Challenging the Mainstream Media
There have to be ground rules to assist Labour MPs attending media interviews. The studies and articles appended below show that, at the moment and without exaggeration, #MSM is our enemy. Look beyond the studio staff and the interviewer’s phony camaraderie to see the immovable first principle that every interview, casual or in studio must be treated with suspicion. Expect […]
You can keep New Labour & they can keep Luke Akehurst
I don’t read the Guardian anymore, just as I don’t lick around the toilet bowl or engage in dalliances with farm animals. On Wednesday I made a reluctant exception, after discovering that arch-Blairite sycophant and former arms trade lobbyist Luke Akehurst had written a pub-bore piece about New Labour, Jeremy Corbyn and his vision for the party. Akehurst starts off by recalling […]
Milosevic exonerated, as the NATO war machine moves on
The ICTY’s exoneration of the late Slobodan Milosevic, the former President of Yugoslavia, for war crimes committed in the Bosnia war, proves again we should take NATO claims regarding its ’official enemies’ not with a pinch of salt, but a huge lorry load.
