The UK Government is about to pass legislation which will make any behaviour perceived to potentially ‘cause nuisance or annoyance’ a criminal offence. The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill also grants local authorities, police and even private security firms sweeping powers to bar citizens from assembling lawfully in public spaces. The Bill has successfully passed through the House of Commons without issue, and is now in the latter stages of review by the House of Lords, after which it will receive Royal Assent and become Law. Those who refuse orders under the new rules will face arrest, fines and even prison time.

Why Cuba Must Be Punished – National Security Agency – The only part of the government that really listens to what you have to say
I have on occasion asked people who reject or rationalize any and all criticism of US foreign policy: “What would the United States have to do in its foreign policy to lose your support? What, for you, would be too much?” I’ve yet to get a suitable answer to that question. I suspect it’s because the person is afraid that whatever they say I’ll point out that the United States has already done it.
Statement by Sarah Harrison
When whistleblowers come forward we need to fight for them, so others will be encouraged. When they are gagged, we must be their voice. When they are hunted, we must be their shield. When they are locked away, we must free them. Giving us the truth is not a crime. This is our data, our information, our history. We must fight to own it.
Courage is contagious.
John Cusack and Maggie Gyllenhaal Get Angry in a Political Ad About NSA Surveillance
Directed by Brian Knappenberger, whose previous work includes the Anonymous documentary We Are Legion: The Story of the Hacktivists, the video was produced by the Electronic Frontier Foundation and released by the Stop Watching Us coalition in advance of a rally in Washington on Saturday to protest privacy abuse and call for Congress to reveal the extent of the NSA’s mass surveillance programs. The three-and-a-half minute video features Oliver Stone, Democratic Representative John Conyers Jr., Lawrence Lessig, and several activists and whistleblowers.
GCHQ: Snowden files reveal spy agency’s efforts to escape legal challenge
British intelligence has been trying desperately to keep its surveillance practices secret – wary of public anger and legal challenges. That’s emerged from internal documents leaked by Edward Snowden, and obtained by the Guardian newspaper. But as RT’s Sara Firth reports, the spy agencies’ worst fears are already coming true. To discuss the controversial techniques used by British intelligence, and the ongoing backlash, former MI5 agent Annie Machon joins RT.
UK police threatens kids as young as 11 with Tasers
“The statistics show that the Taser is being used in contravention of the Taser Policy and Guidance, due to the dramatic increase in their use on under 18’s. This needs to be addressed by the police forces immediately before there is a serious injury caused to a child or young adults,”
Who Killed Michael Hastings?
The story that Hastings was working on at the time of his death centered around CIA Director John Brennan, the chief architect of President Obama’s foreign drone program. It related specifically to Brennan’s role as the administration’s point man tracking investigative journalists and their sources in Washington.

Fresh Leak on US Spying: NSA Accessed Mexican President’s Email
The National Security Agency (NSA) has a division for particularly difficult missions. Called “Tailored Access Operations” (TAO), this department devises special methods for special targets.
That category includes surveillance of neighbouring Mexico, and in May 2010, the division reported its mission accomplished. A report classified as “top secret” said: “TAO successfully exploited a key mail server in the Mexican Presidencia domain within the Mexican Presidential network to gain first-ever access to President Felipe Calderon’s public email account.”
UK police colluded with construction bosses
Independent police watchdog fingers police officers across the country for allegedly providing information on workers for a blacklist of over 3,000 names which was drawn up by one of Britain’s biggest construction companies.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has informed the lawyers representing the victims of the backlist that a Scotland Yard inquiry has found that it was “likely that all special branches were involved in providing information” for the blacklist.
Choose Activism: It’s Our Last, Best Chance
We are, each of us, purposefully chained by a leash in the Land of the Free™. But it is only those who stray from the cookie-cutter conformity who feel the leash’s harsh pull. Herman Wallace spent a lifetime tugging on that leash. We owe it to him and so many others to not only make the leash more visible but to also break the chains once and for all.
Is Homeland Security Preparing for the Next Wall Street Collapse?
Reports are that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is engaged in a massive, covert military buildup. An article in the Associated Press in February confirmed an open purchase order by DHS for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. According to an op-ed in Forbes, that’s enough to sustain an Iraq-sized war for over twenty years. DHS has also acquired heavily armored tanks, which have been seen roaming the streets. Evidently somebody in government is expecting some serious civil unrest. The question is, why?
