How could 5000 IS fighters cross the desert in Syria, not once but twice, to attack the ancient city of Palmyra, without western military and intelligence agencies being aware? Has this question ever been asked by journalists from the corporate media in the UK and US? This discussion on Indian TV is what we are truly lacking in the west.

New Year’s Message From BSNews: What Do We Really Want For Our Kids?
I’ve decided never to do anything I don’t want ever again as my New Year’s resolution! I don’t like making New Year’s resolutions actually so I’ve failed quite early on there – but from now on I won’t be doing a single thing I don’t want to! I don’t do much I don’t want to as it is to be […]
‘Guardian’ newspaper fails to support colleague facing deportation threat from Israeli government
Israel is reported to be ready to expel an award-winning Australian journalist and writer, Antony Loewenstein, after he asked a too-probing question of an Israeli politician at a media event last week. Government officials have said they are investigating how they can deny him his work visa when it comes up for renewal in March. It is unsurprising to learn […]
We should respect military tradition – by unionising the army
The first professional army in these islands was a hothouse of debate and democracy. With the 370th anniversary of the New Model’s finest hour approaching, it is time to examine what it means to be a soldier or veteran in Britain today. Buff-coated, blood-stained To lean on the work of Geoffrey Robertson QC, one of the great biographers of the […]
Veterans For Peace: Christmas Truce by Fenya
Song, Christmas Truce (below) by Fenya. From the VFP UK website: Veterans For Peace UK is a voluntary ex-services organisation of men and women, who collectively have served in every war that Britain has fought since World War 2. We belong within a wider international movement that began in the USA in 1985. We have members all over the UK with Action […]
Fake News About ‘Fake News’ – The Media Performance Pyramid
In the wake of Brexit and Trump, ‘mainstream’ media have done the formerly unthinkable by focusing on media bias. The intensity of focus has been such that the Oxford Dictionaries have announced that ‘post-truth’ is their ‘Word of the Year 2016’. ‘Post-truth’ refers to ‘circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion […]
MYTH OF THE MEDAL
One year ago today, Veterans For Peace UK member Daniel Lenham stood outside Downing St and threw his service medals on the ground (see video below) in protest at the government’s decision to sanction air strikes on Syria. Now he has written a moving poem about his decision: Myth of the Medal One year ago today, I gave you them […]
The Pentagon’s “2015 Strategy” For Ruling the World
War, war and more war. This is the Pentagon’s vision of the future. Unlike Russia or China which have a plan for an integrated EU-Asia free trade zone (Silk Road) that will increase employment, improve vital infrastructure, and raise living standards, the US sees only death and destruction ahead. Washington has no strategy for the future, no vision of a better world. There is only war; asymmetrical war, technological war, preemptive war.
The Coming War on China
There is a demented quality about this war mongering. It is as if the “American Century” — proclaimed in 1941 by the American imperialist Henry Luce, owner of Time magazine — has ended without notice and no one has had the courage to tell the emperor to take his guns and go home.
Was 11/8 a New 9/11?
The Election That Changed Everything and Could Prove History’s Deal-Breaker For decades, Washington had a habit of using the Central Intelligence Agency to deep-six governments of the people, by the people, and for the people that weren’t to its taste and replacing them with governments of the [take your choice: military junta, shah, autocrat, dictator] across the planet. There was […]
The Ongoing Media Propaganda War Against Syria
Thirteen months ago, I highlighted how, after the chaos of Iraq and Libya, the mass media began softening the public up for another illegal military intervention in another sovereign state – this time in Syria. Rupert Murdoch, who has a direct financial interest in regime change in Syria (see Israel & energy independence below) oversaw some of the more overt forms of anti-Syrian […]
Syria and Iraq caught between the “new analysts’ and the politicised media
The wars in Syria and Iraq celebrated the unfortunate end of the “free and independent press” and the rise of the “neo-analysts”. They sit in far-off lands, with no ground knowledge of the war, collecting information and analysing the colourful bin of social networking sites.
They have even the temerity to believe they can dictate to the US administration what measures should be taken, who to support and, as if they had mastered the “art of war”, they even push for a nuclear war with Russia.
