BSNews has been away for quite a while due to, as they say, unforseen circumstances. But I’m very happy to say we’re back!
At a time of unprecedented censorship of independent journalism, especially of pro-Palestinian voices, of righteous condemnation of the terrorist state of Israel and the rogue regime in Washington, and of the holding to account of corrupt western governments, it’s never been more important to have a space that’s immune to the nefarious forces always trying to control the narrative and silence the truth.
With this in mind I must give a shout out to our amazing web host without whose commitment to the principles of free speech, free expression, and the crucial role of real journalism in a democratic society, we wouldn’t be able to do our job.
That great independent journalist, Eva Bartlett, has just had her Facebook account shut down, her first one having been closed with the loss of 60,000 followers. She had built up another healthy support network since but Meta deals in the kind of blatant censorship that makes one want to vomit, frankly, emboldened as they are in this age of open war on truthtellers. Youtube channels have been closed; Twitter/X accounts disappeared. The daily censorship I, and many other activists and journalists, experience on these platforms is incredibly frustrating, but we stay in solidarity with one another and stand in defiance of the suppression whilst continuing to find other outlets uncontaminated by the elites.
Throughout the Gaze genocide we blasted holes in the edifice of propaganda with our writing, our marches, our meetings, our voices in public forums, and our communications with the corporate journalists without whose obedient loyalty to their official sources the propaganda – and therefore the mass slaughter – would not be possible. These fake journalists, these stenographers for power, have blood on their hands, as the great John Pilger stated. So it’s vital that outlets like BSNews exist.
We are in a battle for Truth, ladies and gentlemen. The enemy is no longer wearing a mask of respectability, they are openly operating as the tyrants they are. The proscription of Palestine Action showed us that. The jailing of non-violent people for up to two years without trial so that a hunger strike became their last desperate cry for justice, while the suppliers of the deadly weapons enabling the slaughter they were trying to stop continue weaponising antisemitism to shield their own malignity. Oh! What a circus! Oh! What a show!
Syria, Lebanon, Ukraine, Venezuela, Iran! Roll up! Roll up! There’s nothing new going on here folks; just the continuation of decades of regime change operations with the curtain drawn back, and open warfare on any journalist not trained like a good doggie to amplify uncritically the sources of their corporate masters. ‘Where’s the evidence?’, the primary principle of journalism is abandoned in these post-Orwellian days, so that ludicrous numbers of dead in Iran, and even more ludicrous numbers of people ‘saved from being hanged’ can be reported by compromised anchors on prime-time TV news with a straight face.
Arm yourself citizen! With your critical faculties, with your voice, and with your pen! ‘The world stands at a parting of the ways’. Which side will you be on?
