My fear is that when Cameron sent the spooks in to the Guardian for the Snowden information, there was an unpublished warning that the paper’s license would be withdrawn unless they parroted the official line. Rusbridger then left and the new editorial policy seems to have become like the Daily Telegraph. They even have a couple of right-wing journos, Nick Cohen and one of the women, publishing frequently in an unGuardian way. How are the mighty fallen.

They had a good break with the Azerbaijan Laundry story which impressed me sufficiently to donate but since then – zilch.

The mortality of the paper relies on the Scott Trust and that relies on reliable investment advice from the brokers who run the global casino. That infers constant support for the USD. I suspect that investment income is the Guardian’s Achilles Heel?

The article mentions the restrictions on readers’ comments – its now reduced to sport and cooking – that’s the way to go to keep the owning class content but I fear the traditional readership will flow away to the many small digital sites where very capable specialist reporters have their followings.

Solon did nothing more than pull together all the arguments she could find which aimed to disqualify Vanessa Beeley’s first -hand testimony. Sadly she is not in a position to do this because she has never been to Syria, and has no expertise in that country. So the feet she would gave been able to manage is the puff piece she finally did produce. It is always best to defer to experts in these regions. Had The Guardian really wanted to find out for itself what is happening in Syria, it only had to send la Solon on a fact-finding mission to Syria. But it chose none to. This speaks volumes about The Guardians true interest in Syria,

Great to see this sort of propaganda being challenged. Those of us who’ve researched this area recognise the falsity of the claims made by Solon et al, and are astonished by her sloppy journalism. I hope that this article is widely publicised . . .
